Krutrim Unveils Amazing AI Cloud Platform and Assistant App for Indian Developers

Krutrim, a pioneering artificial intelligence (AI) initiative co-founded by Bhavish Aggarwal of Ola, has recently revealed its strategic plan aimed at stimulating innovation within the AI sector in India. The company has also launched mobile applications for its AI assistant.

Krutrim’s Full-Stack AI Capabilities

Krutrim is dedicated to the development of comprehensive AI capabilities. It has made its cloud platform accessible to enterprises, researchers, and developers, thereby facilitating the creation of cutting-edge technology products at significantly reduced costs.

The cloud platform offers AI computing infrastructure, foundational models, and open-source models hosted on the cloud. It also provides essential location services APIs and SDKs, enabling the construction of innovative localized mapping solutions.

The Krutrim Assistant App

Built on Krutrim’s proprietary large language model (LLM)—trained on over two trillion tokens with the most extensive representation of Indic data—the Krutrim assistant app aims to make AI accessible to all. The app currently understands and generates intelligent responses in more than 10 Indian languages, with plans to expand to all 22 official languages. The app allows users to give voice prompts and integrates text, voice, and visual data in the output.

The assistant can also interact with other apps to perform tasks such as booking cabs, setting reminders, or sending messages without the need to switch between applications. It adapts to the user’s preferences and habits over time, offering a personalized experience with tailored suggestions and reminders.

Bhavish Aggarwal’s Vision

Bhavish Aggarwal expressed the company’s commitment to developing full-stack AI capabilities in India for the global market. He emphasized the need for India to have its technology platforms to facilitate the emergence of world-class products at a fraction of current costs.

He believes that with Krutrim, Indian enterprises, and developers will no longer have to rely on complex and expensive Western cloud platforms, which are not optimized for Indian use cases. He envisions the Krutrim assistant app revolutionizing the adoption of GenAI by seamlessly integrating into everyone’s life and addressing the complexity and fragmentation often associated with digital tools and services.

Access to Krutrim Cloud

With access to Krutrim Cloud, developers can now build scalable products from scratch using the following models, tools, and services:

Model-as-a-Service (MaaS)

It has announced its MaaS, offering developers access to its LLMs as well as open-source models hosted on its cloud. The platform’s base LLMs and multiple associated instruction-tuned versions, along with the Python SDKs, will enable developers to create India-specific products, given its superior understanding of Indian languages and cultural context.

Developers and enterprises can also benefit from cost advantages due to much cheaper inference costs, thanks to the platform’s vertical integration of the entire AI solution stack.

Foundational Services

To assist enterprises focusing on localized location services, the cloud offers several location API services, including Places API, Tiles API, Routing APIs, and Navigation SDKs for iOS and Android.

Tiles API: The Tiles API is designed to help in the loading and display of small sections of a larger map, known as tiles. When combined, these tiles make up the entire map. This approach offers faster and more efficient loading of maps as only the required parts of the map are loaded, resulting in a better user experience.

Krutrim envisions creating a comprehensive, reliable, and scalable ‘maps platform’ that caters to local needs and supports broader initiatives for technological and economic advancement within India. The company is also working on developing MapGPT to enable natural conversations powered by location-aware AI intelligent assistants.

It aims to offer an immersive experience of location hotspots, integrate community-based features for real-time updates on traffic and road conditions, and add more features to improve personalization.
