Galaxy AI S24: Samsung and Marvel tease new mobile features

Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its Galaxy S24 smartphone on January 17th, and it has partnered with Marvel Studios to create a spectacular teaser campaign. The campaign showcases the new Galaxy AI S24 features, which Samsung claims will enable users to discover new possibilities on their mobile devices.

Doctor Strange and the Sphere

The teaser campaign features Doctor Strange, the Marvel superhero who can manipulate time and space, exploring different dimensions and realities. The campaign is inspired by Marvel Studios’ “What If…?” Season 2, a series that imagines alternate scenarios for the Marvel characters, now streaming on Disney+.

The campaign is displayed on Sphere, a dome-shaped performance venue in Las Vegas that has one of the world’s highest-resolution wraparound LED screens. The Sphere’s exterior can flash dynamic imagery on a massive scale, making it an ideal platform to showcase the Galaxy AI S24 capabilities.

The teaser shows Doctor Strange opening portals to various worlds, while the voice-over says “Epic discoveries await” and “A new era is coming with Galaxy”. The teaser also reveals a glimpse of the Galaxy AI S24 Ultra, the flagship model of the Galaxy S24 series, which is expected to have a sleek design and a powerful performance.

Galaxy AI S24 and the mystery partner

Samsung said that the teaser campaign is one of the ways it is evolving and pioneering mobile technology through a special collaboration with a long-standing tech industry partner, which will be revealed soon. The company did not disclose the name of the partner, but some speculations suggest that it could be Google, Microsoft, or Intel.

Stephanie Choi, EVP & Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, commented on the campaign, saying:

“We are ushering in a new era of innovation at Galaxy Unpacked, introducing Galaxy AI S24 experiences on mobile. This campaign teased one of the ways we are evolving and pioneering mobile technology through a special collaboration with a long-standing tech industry partner, which will be revealed soon.”

Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event will take place on January 17th at 10 a.m. PT (11:30 PM IST). The event will be live-streamed on samsung.com and YouTube, where viewers can witness the unveiling of the Galaxy S24 series and the Galaxy AI S24 features.

The teaser campaign is a clever way to generate hype and curiosity for the Galaxy S24 launch, as well as to showcase Samsung’s partnership with Marvel Studios, which has a huge fan base. The campaign also highlights the potential of Galaxy AI S24 to transform the mobile experience and offer new ways of exploration and discovery.

How does AI work in mobile devices?

AI works in mobile devices by using machine learning algorithms that enable smartphones to process and learn from large amounts of data on the device or in the cloud.

Some examples of how AI works in mobile devices are:

  • Voice assistants: Voice assistants like Google Assistant, Siri, and Samsung Bixby use data to understand users’ voice commands and perform a variety of tasks like web searches, music playback, reminders, and smart home device control. Natural language processing (NLP), a subfield of artificial intelligence that studies the interaction of computers and human languages, is used by voice assistants to analyze and generate speech.
  • Photography: AI enhances the quality and functionality of smartphone cameras by using computer vision, a subfield of AI that enables computers to understand and manipulate visual information. For instance, AI can help with scene detection, face recognition, portrait mode, night mode, and optical zoom.
  • Facial recognition: AI enables smartphones to unlock with facial recognition, a biometric technology that identifies and verifies a person’s identity based on their facial features. Facial recognition uses computer vision and deep learning, a type of machine learning that uses multiple layers of artificial neural networks to learn from complex and high-dimensional data, to compare and match faces from a database or a live video feed.

AI is transforming mobile technology by offering new and improved features and experiences for users. AI also has implications for marketers, as it provides insights into user behavior and preferences, and enables personalized and targeted advertising. AI is expected to become more prevalent and powerful in mobile devices, as new hardware and software innovations emerge.
