CES 2024: Nvidia’s New Chips Lead the AI PC Race

At CES 2024, Nvidia Corp. introduced new stuff for computers. They want to make PCs that use AI more appealing to people. Nvidia’s chips are really good for AI, and now they’re trying to make PCs better with that technology.

Nvidia Introduces Upgraded Desktop Graphics Chips at CES 2024

At CES 2024, Nvidia revealed three new computer chips. These chips have more parts that help gamers, designers, and regular computer users use AI better on their computers. You won’t need to use the internet for remote services anymore. These updated chips are improved versions of what Nvidia already had. The best part? Nvidia promises they’ll come at an awesome new price. They shared this news during a presentation at the CES trade show on Monday.

Nvidia rivals Intel Corp., and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. talk about AI PCs, saying they’re the future. They believe running AI software on PCs is safer and quicker than using the internet. Nvidia says its chips are the top choice to run these new laptops and desktops. They claim their graphics chips are the best for powering these machines. At CES 2024, they’re all excited about this new technology.

GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER: Enhanced Performance and Ray Tracing Powerhouse

The latest GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is getting more powerful with extra processing cores and quicker memory. According to the company, it’s 1.7 times speedier running the Stable Diffusion XL image software compared to the previous Nvidia model. This new chip is great for gaming, especially with ray tracing technology for detailed 4K images.

It’s a big leap forward in performance, enhancing both image generation and gaming experiences. The release date for the product is set for January 31st, with a price tag of $999. Additionally, the company introduced an RTX 4070 Ti SUPER priced at $799 and a 4070 Super priced at $599, both of which will be released later this month.

CES

At CES 2024, Nvidia’s got new software and smarter AI models. They say these will make their products way better than machines with Intel chips. Justin Walker, a vice president at Nvidia, thinks these improvements will be huge—an “order of magnitude” better. That means a massive jump in performance for the stuff they’re bringing out.

Nvidia’s shares surged by 5% during Monday’s trading session in New York, pushing the stock price above $500 per share and reaching an all-time high. The company’s stock value increased by over three times in the previous year, resulting in a market capitalization exceeding $1 trillion.

PC shipments have dropped significantly after a surge in sales during the pandemic. This has resulted in makers and component suppliers being stuck with excess inventory and limited growth. However, Nvidia has managed to avoid the negative impact on the PC market by dominating the market for accelerator chips used in data centers to develop AI software. The increased demand for these high-priced chips has propelled Nvidia’s market value to over $1 trillion, making it the most valuable company ever in the semiconductor industry.

Computer Chipmakers Push AI-Enabled Devices for Tech Upgrades

In the tech world, most computer chipmakers mostly sell their chips for PCs. They want people with laptops and businesses to buy new devices. To convince them, they’re talking about how the new devices have cool AI features. The goal is to make people and companies see the value in upgrading their equipment. This is a big focus, where they’re showcasing these advancements to encourage more tech upgrades.

Nvidia announced that their latest chips will offer an enhanced gaming experience with realistic graphics and improved dialogue from in-game characters, thanks to AI. Additionally, these chips will provide more efficient tools for image-editing software like Adobe Inc. Currently, there are 500 applications optimized to work seamlessly with AI and NVIDIA’s RTX technology.

Nvidia is the biggest producer of graphics processors, also known as GPUs. Gamers are ready to spend a lot of money on cards that enhance their gaming experience, making Nvidia’s chips a high-end choice for PCs. AMD is Nvidia’s main competitor in this market. Intel and AMD also provide CPUs with graphics capabilities.

Nvidia assured that its latest products won’t violate US rules limiting AI-related chip exports to China. The previous GTX 4090 faced issues under these restrictions, prompting Nvidia to create a modified version for the Chinese market. This means their new products showcased at the show won’t be affected by these regulations, allowing them to offer advanced AI capabilities without breaking any rules.
